Modern Healthcare , December 24, 2008 - Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C., said it received a conditional certificate-of-need approval to build a $96 million, 50-bed hospital in Clemmons, N.C. The 842-bed medical center, which is part of not-for-profit Novant Health, also in Winston-Salem, said the new hospital will include four operating rooms, a 12-bed emergency department and a range of imaging services. Novant’s chief rival in the Triad region of North Carolina, 795-bed Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, won a conditional CON for its plan to build a $100 million, 50-bed replacement hospital for its 25-bed Davie County Hospital, Mocksville. The proposed hospital would be built in Advance, about four miles from Clemmons. Novant has appealed the approval of the Davie County Hospital replacement project. -- by Vince Galloro
